Burst pipe repair in Doncaster
Straight answer
If a pipe has burst in Doncaster, turn the stopcock off immediately (clockwise), open a tap to drop the pressure, and call BPHS on 01302 490450. We isolate, repair or replace the damaged section, and get water back on. Out-of-hours attendance uses the same emergency rate as daytime, from £95 for the first hour.
What to do if a pipe bursts
- Step 1. Turn the stopcock off — under the kitchen sink, in the meter box, or where the mains pipe enters. Clockwise closes it.
- Step 2. Open a sink tap to relieve pressure in the pipework.
- Step 3. Move furniture and put a bowl or towels under the leak if it is still weeping.
- Step 4. Do not use electrics in standing water. If the board or sockets are wet, stay out of that area.
- Step 5. Call 01302 490450. If you cannot find or turn the stopcock, say so — that is why we come out.
What we do on arrival
Confirm isolation, find the split (rising main, loft pipe, washing machine hose, heating pipe), cut out the bad section, and replace in copper or plastic as the rest of the system dictates. Then we restore water and check the rest of the run.
People also ask
Where is the stopcock in a UK house?
Usually under the kitchen sink, in a downstairs cloakroom, under the stairs, or in an outside water meter box. Older Doncaster terraces sometimes have it in the cellar. Clockwise is off.
Will my home insurance cover a burst pipe?
Often the escape of water is covered; the plumber’s bill may be an excess job. We can provide an itemised invoice. Turn the water off first — that is the bit that limits the claim.
Can a burst pipe wait until morning?
Not if it is still running or you cannot isolate it. A pinhole you have isolated can sometimes wait. Flooding cannot.
